The Great
ROBIN HOOD
Contest of Stories
A just-for-fun Short Story Contest for young writers, ages 9 and up.
Advanced Scribes, ages sixteen to eighteen:
Your task in this great Contest of Stories is in all ways the same as our younger scribes, save in these notable distinctions:
- Your tale may be between 1,000-2,000 words.
- Your reward options differ, if you so choose.
- Your story should be submitted via the form below (to accomodate the larger word count).
TAKE HEED: The content of all tales must be deemed fitting for the younger ones of our merry company, who look with bright eyes to the works of their elder peers.
Submit Your Tale!
If this be your first time joining us, your email shall be added to our merry mailing list – used only to share word of future contests and noble giveaways. You may leave the list at any time with but a single click.
What We Seek:
- A striking beginning to catch the reader’s eye.
- A true Robin Hood spirit – so plenty of adventure, danger, and valour.
- A fine balance of action and dialogue.
- But most of all, a tale well told… so take joy in the telling!
See Notable Details and Conditions of Entry below.
If you’re having technical issues submitting your entry via the form here, please try again using a different device if possible. You can report any problems by emailing us directly at: [email protected]

Romanov
by Nadine Brandes
My name is Anastasia. The history books say I died. They don’t know the half of it.
Anastasia “Nastya” Romanov was given a single mission: to smuggle an ancient spell into her suitcase on her way to exile in Siberia. It might be her family’s only salvation. But the leader of the Bolshevik army is after them, and he’s hunted Romanov before.
Nastya’s only chances of saving herself and her family are either to release the spell and deal with the consequences, or to enlist help from Zash, the handsome soldier who doesn’t act like the average Bolshevik. Nastya has only dabbled in magic, but it doesn’t frighten her half as much as her growing attraction to Zash. She likes him. She thinks he might even like her.
That is, until she’s on one side of a firing squad . . . and he’s on the other.
